How should companies hire young talent in the AI era?

Start with a real problem, define supervision and judge how the candidate learns—not only where they studied.

Role design

Give the person a real problem with a bounded outcome.

Young talent learns faster when the work matters and the boundary is clear. Define what they can own, who can answer questions and what a useful result looks like.

Evidence

Ask what they made and how they learned.

A small project can be useful evidence when the candidate explains decisions, mistakes and iteration. A polished CV cannot replace this conversation.

AI fluency

Assess judgment, not prompt vocabulary.

The candidate should be able to choose tools, check outputs, protect sensitive information and recognize when human review is needed.

Management

Do not confuse potential with immediate independence.

A high-potential hire still needs context, feedback and responsible supervision. The role should create a path from supported work to greater ownership.

Next step

Turn the question into a practical conversation.
